COMPREHENSIVE ENGINEERING
In more than three decades of experience, we have helped improve the mobility of millions of people in more than 50 cities on five continents, developing more than 70 efficient, safe, sustainable and environmentally integrated transportation systems. We offer comprehensive engineering services (starting with design all the way through to maintenance), with the same passion for innovation that now drives us to set our sights on automation, AI and cybersecurity, among other technologies.
Subway design has evolved from mostly underground lines built using the NATM or TBM methods to above-ground systems whose implementation is more complex from an urban development point of view, but which is clearly less expensive.
We have been protagonists of this evolution through our projects, from the first metro lines in Spain and Portugal, where we have participated in most of the systems, acquiring experience in tunnels that we later applied to other countries such as Mexico, Brazil and Panama. The experience in systems integration that we acquired from the Line 9 Barcelona metro project was also highly valuable, which has since been extended to practically all of our projects.
We currently cover all the technical challenges involved in the construction and operation of a metro system:
Some of our most relevant underground metro projects include:
Some of our most relevant above-ground projects include:
The implementation of a light rail line is a very competitive alternative from an economic point of view and faster to build, compared to a conventional metro line. At Sener, we have been involved in the design of more than 500 km of lines and we have participated in the implementation of tram lines and networks in more than 25 cities.
Since our beginnings, we have viewed light rail as a dynamic factor for the city and its surroundings, which improves service and is integrated as an element of change into urban planning and sustainability. Cities with the highest quality of life have decidedly opted for these systems, with it being one of our priority products.
From a design point of view, the main differentiating elements of light rail are:
The following projects stand out:
We have participated and continue to participate in the design of more than 150 km of monorail lines. A system that has been consolidated in recent years, whose most critical element is the design of the beamway.
The main challenges we face in implementing a monorail system consist of:
Some examples include:
BRT is an efficient system that in many cases is implemented on road corridors and, with the emergence of electric vehicles, is allowing more sustainable systems to be adopted, making them even more attractive. We have carried out more than 100 km in BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) systems, most notably featuring those of Chalco-Santa Marta in Mexico or those of Gama Santa Maria in Brasilia in Brazil.
Some of the most important characteristics that we take into account in their design include:
At Sener, we have also participated in people movers and cable-propelled systems, projects in which we have applied all of the required in-depth technical knowledge since, in one way or another, they must integrate the problems of the previous modes.
Among the people mover systems, we can highlight:
We have also participated in the design of cable-propelled systems:
Our rich history, combined with our professionals’ expertise, has endowed us with comprehensive technical knowledge and industry insight. We provide our clients with high value-added consulting services aimed at achieving their goals through collaborative work and the proposed practical solutions. Our coverage of the transport, mobility, and logistics value chain is comprehensive,
We have been providing technical rail engineering services for more than 30 years to improve intercity high-speed rail connections in Europe and America. Our projects include the lines between London and Birmingham or between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Roads are a structural element of the utmost importance for economic and social development, and require significant investments. We are well aware of this,
An airport is one of the most complex infrastructures in the transportation field. They are projects of great technical and operational complexity that require a transversal knowledge of technologies.
We develop quality architecture, adapted to its environment and applying technology to make our spaces more comfortable. We have multidisciplinary teams of architects,
Our history spans more than 500 different port projects, in more than 140 ports in 40 countries. We cover all areas of engineering and consulting (from planning to design and construction oversight),
We provide consulting services and develop hydraulic engineering projects for all phases of the comprehensive water cycle: from the catchment of water resources to its storage,
