MORE THAN 15,000 KM OF TRACKS
We have been providing technical rail engineering services for more than 30 years to improve intercity high-speed rail connections in Europe and America. Our projects include the lines between London and Birmingham or between San Francisco and Los Angeles. We offer our clients services that include design, planning and project management. This unique experience makes us a leader in a sector for which we have developed more than 15,000 km of high-speed lines and studies for more than 8,000 km of track.
We are experts in railway engineering for high-speed lines: more than 3,000 km of lines designed by our engineers are currently in operation. We participate in projects of international relevance in Europe and America, playing different roles. For example, we are part of the project management team (PMT) for the HS2 London-Birmingham line and we are heavily involved in the high-speed connection between San Francisco and Los Angeles as client engineers and with design-build contracts.
In Technical Services, we are providers of technical services for the International Union of Railways (UIC), for whom we have written the High-Speed Railway System Implementation Handbook, the High-Speed Start-Up Handbook and the Passenger Railway System Upgrading Handbook, which addresses the objective choice of either building a new high-speed line or modernizing an existing one.
Equally relevant is the experience and knowledge we have acquired in the urban integration of high-speed lines in cities. These projects involve infrastructure networks and large stations, such as the multimodal ones in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Logroño or Burgos; and others such as those of India, Poland, the United States or Mexico.
As a result of this activity, our teams are capable of carrying out the entire process of implementing a high-speed rail network, with knowledge of the key elements required at each stage to achieve technical consistency and social recognition.
On the one hand, Sener’s high-speed services include all development phases:
On the other hand, the disciplines that our engineering teams master allow us to carry out a complete high-speed project:
Our railway engineering activity in large freight transport projects refers to both basic infrastructure and logistics facilities in ports and dry ports. We apply our knowledge to freight transport projects and mixed train line technology, the complexity of which is especially demanding.
As an example of our technicians’ expertise in the field of railway engineering, we wrote the Handbook of Mixed Traffic High-Speed Railway Lines for the UIC and, as commissioned by ADIF, the Study of the Combination of Heavy-Haul Trains with High-Speed Railway Lines. Likewise, we have worked on projects for lines that can support up to 35 tn/axis and 17 mtn/year of traffic.
Our heavy haul railway engineering services include:
Our engineering teams’ knowledge of different areas includes the development of a complete high-speed project:
Medium or long-distance conventional railway lines are projects of high technological complexity, regardless of whether they involve creating new lines or adapting and improving the capacity of existing lines, in which the work must be carried out in the safest way possible. For this reason, we have multidisciplinary teams made up of perfectly coordinated experts.
The services we provide include:
The range of areas that we cover include:
We have an extensive commuter rail portfolio, both in new creation projects and in those to adapt existing lines to be included in commuter rail networks.
As an example of our knowledge of high-tech solutions, we can point to our Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS) Handbook for the UIC, which provides an overview of the best sustainable practices in CRTS on a global scale, as well as the Framework Agreement for Signalling and Communication Projects for Adif’s Commuter Rail Plan.
To tackle these projects, we combine the multidisciplinary knowledge of our teams in civil engineering, architecture, electromechanical and railway operations in a coordinated and optimized way, and we offer services such as:
The areas we cover include:
Our rich history, combined with our professionals’ expertise, has endowed us with comprehensive technical knowledge and industry insight. We provide our clients with high value-added consulting services aimed at achieving their goals through collaborative work and the proposed practical solutions. Our coverage of the transport, mobility, and logistics value chain is comprehensive,
