A4 – Porto / Amarante – Motorway – Widening and Improvement of the Aguas Santas / Campo section

Basic and Building Project for the widening for 2×4 lanes and improvement of the roadway of the A4 motorway in the Águas Santas y Campo section, including the reinforcement of the existing pavement and Technical Assistance during building. The Study also includes the reformulation of the two toll areas of Ermesinde (junction and road) and the toll area at the Campo junction. It includes the building of a new tunnel to “duplicate” the Aguas Santas tunnel.

Main technical characterístics:
13-km-long stretch, 2×3 section with interventions on 24 grade separations (widening of underpasses and demolition/construction of two new flyovers), building of 2 new viaducts to widen the Suzão Viaduct, widening of the Bridge over the River Ferreira, reformulation of the accesses to the Águas Santas Service Area, reformulation of the geometry of 2 junctions (Ermesinde and Campo) and reformulation of the accesses to the Valongo junction. In this study, particular mention should be made of the building of a new tunnel, with 4 traffic lanes, and the improvement of the current Aguas Santas Tunnel, comprised of two double-lane parallel tunnels.

Sener carried out the implementation of the different phases of the study (viability, basic and building project) and Technical Assistance during building.
