Since the 1970s, Sener has applied its gas engineering expertise to develop essential infrastructures that ensure secure and efficient supply. These assets have contributed for decades to Europe’s energy security and are now evolving to integrate new fuels such as hydrogen and other renewable gases.
Our position as a trusted provider of gas engineering services is built on a solid track record in the design and execution of regasification terminals, cryogenic tanks, virtual pipelines, and compression stations across Europe. Today, we continue to combine technological innovation with engineering excellence to ensure that gas solutions remain a key pillar of the energy transition.
Our track record demonstrates proven technical and commercial reliability. The GermanLNG terminal in Brunsbüttel offers up to 8 BCMA of regasification capacity with two 165,000 m³ tanks. In the Netherlands, the expansion of Gate Terminal includes a fourth 180,000 m³ tank and increased flow capacity, consolidating its position as one of Europe’s main gas hubs. In Spain, the BBG expansion incorporated a 150,000 m³ tank—the first in the country built in compliance with EN 1473 and EN 14620 standards. These milestones reflect our ability to scale projects and adapt them to new market conditions and regulations.
Sener is a benchmark contractor in the gas sector, combining decades of experience in gas engineering with turnkey project execution.
In addition to execution, we add value through proprietary designs, such as boil-off gas recondenser systems and cryogenic tank engineering. These innovations, together with our experience in thermal integration with combined cycle plants, set us apart in terms of efficiency, reliability, and future readiness.
We approach each project with a methodology based on the project lifecycle. In the analysis phase, we study demand, supply routes, environmental requirements, and opportunities to integrate renewable gases. In the design phase, our teams model cryogenic tanks, vaporizers, compression systems, and marine works, applying structural and process knowledge to maximize efficiency and safety. Execution is carried out under contracts covering multiple disciplines, coordinated under strict QA/QC standards. Finally, in the operation phase, we offer predictive maintenance, boil-off gas management, and upgrades that ensure long-term durability and adaptability.
Our philosophy ensures that each asset can adapt to future needs. We incorporate modular and floating configurations such as FSRUs, develop virtual LNG distribution pipelines, and design cryogenic tanks optimized for decades of service. In this way, we create infrastructures capable of integrating hydrogen and renewable gases without losing relevance.
From Sagunto and BBG to Dunkirk, Zeebrugge, Gate Terminal, and German LNG, Sener has developed benchmark projects along Europe’s main energy corridors.
At Sener, we develop gas infrastructures that ensure today’s energy supply and are prepared for the renewable fuels of the future, combining engineering excellence with proven reliability.
