Leading LNG infrastructure engineering across global energy markets
Sener has become a global reference in LNG – liquefied natural gas infrastructures, combining engineering excellence with innovation to deliver assets that are critical for energy security.
For decades, our teams have designed and built regasification terminals, cryogenic tanks and floating solutions under full EPC scope, ensuring safe and efficient supply. Today, we adapt this experience to prepare infrastructures for renewable gases such as hydrogen, keeping them relevant in a decarbonizing energy landscape.
Our innovation is evident in projects such as Gate Terminal, where we built a 180,000 m³ tank and expanded regasification capacity by 1.5 BCMA. In the BBG expansion, we delivered a 150,000 m³ tank, the first in Spain to be built under EN 1473 and EN 14620 standards. The German LNG project confirms our capacity to combine large-scale EPC delivery with future readiness, integrating hydrogen compatibility into a strategic terminal.
Our reputation is built on the successful execution of some of Europe’s most emblematic LNG references. In Spain, we contributed to the Sagunto and BBG terminals, both milestones in the country’s LNG development. In the Netherlands, we worked at Gate Terminal in Rotterdam, a facility that has grown to become one of the continent’s largest LNG hubs. In Belgium, we delivered advanced engineering in Dunkirk and Zeebrugge, strengthening access points to Northwest Europe. And in Germany, the German LNG project in Brunsbüttel is set to provide up to 8 BCMA of regasification capacity with two 165,000 m³ tanks.
We approach LNG with a lifecycle vision. Assessment covers market demand, marine access, safety and environmental factors, and long-term transition potential. In design, our gas engineering services optimize cryogenic tank structures, vaporisers, compressor stations and marine jetties, embedding proprietary boil-off gas reliquefiers and recondensers. Implementation is carried out under EPC contracts that align civil, marine, process and electrical scopes under strict QA/QC. Finally, our operation services include predictive maintenance, boil-off gas control, and upgrade programs that extend the life of assets and adapt them to renewable gases.
We do more than build LNG facilities; we ensure they remain competitive throughout their lifecycle. By offering floating solutions such as FSRU, modular expansions, and hydrogen-readiness, we keep LNG infrastructure flexible in the face of changing markets.
Sener’s LNG track record includes strategic references such as Sagunto and BBG in Spain, Gate Terminal in Rotterdam, German LNG in Brunsbüttel, and the advanced terminals of Dunkirk and Zeebrugge.
We provide LNG gas infrastructure solutions that include regasification terminals, cryogenic tanks and floating storage units.
