Launchers and Space Transportation

Enabling World’s future in space with precision, autonomy and sustainable design.

Integrated solutions with high technical value, social impact, and sustainable performance

The space transportation sector plays a crucial role in enabling access to orbit and beyond, demanding precision, resilience and technological excellence. At Sener, we contribute to the success of space launch vehicles through our expertise in guidance, navigation and control (GNC), precision mechanisms and advanced recovery systems. From launch to re-entry, we deliver critical subsystems that guarantee mission accuracy and operational safety — both for expendable and reusable platforms.

Our developments for the European Space Agency (ESA), including the Space Rider and Vega-C programmes, are helping shape Europe’s independent access to space — with high-reliability technologies designed to meet tomorrow’s orbital logistics and transportation needs.

Why choose us

With over 30 years of experience in space communications, we are trusted by top-tier institutions and private operators to deliver robust, certifiable hardware for demanding orbital environments. Our involvement in leading programs such as SpainSat NG, XTAR and Solar Orbiter demonstrates our ability to meet the highest technical and security requirements.

We contribute to Europe’s autonomous and reusable access to space

As leaders in GNC and system engineering for transportation vehicles, we bring critical subsystems to the launcher sector — always designed with performance, reliability and sustainability in mind.

How we work

We manage the full development cycle of complex subsystems for launchers, from concept definition and system design to prototyping, qualification and integration. Our solutions are aligned with ESA and commercial specifications, and we conduct all phases — including software and hardware verification — in-house. We collaborate closely with partners such as AVIO and ESA across programmes like Vega-C, Space Rider, and future reusable platforms.

We cover the full project lifecycle: from concept and design to execution, operation and long-term management

From avionics to descent and recovery mechanisms, our systems are built to meet the highest standards of safety and performance — ensuring reliable launch, orbital operation and return capabilities

Comprehensive solutions for space transportation across every mission phase

Our space transportation portfolio includes navigation units, GNC systems for launch and re-entry vehicles, recovery solutions like controlled parafoils, and full subsystem integration. We also support in-orbit logistics and servicing, ensuring performance and reliability across every phase of orbital transportation missions.

Carrying the future

With decades of flight-proven experience, we are a trusted partner for agencies and prime contractors in Europe’s most strategic launcher programmes. We are the GNC design authority for ESA’s Space Rider, a spacecraft capable of return from orbit, and we are developing Naviga, the navigation unit for the Vega-C launch vehicle. Additionally, we are working on a controlled parafoil system that will enable reusable stages — a major step towards sustainable European launch systems.
